After a month-long consultation period, Fastmarkets has launched a low-carbon nickel briquette premium to bring additional price transparency on the value of low-carbon nickel to the physical market.Demand for such pricing mechanisms has steadily increased in recent months, particularly in the Class 1 nickel market following significant shifts in the location and methods of production of nickel products.
This new low-carbon nickel briquette price assessment contributes to a growing suite of low-carbon prices published by Fastmarkets, which include prices for aluminium and steel.
Fastmarkets appreciates that this is still an emerging market and acknowledges the feedback received during the consultation process. As such, Fastmarkets will continue to consult on the inclusion of additional metrics for measuring sustainability in the price assessment, as well as the expansion to include other shapes of nickel.
