Proposal to amend five magnesia fob China assessments

Fastmarkets proposes to amend five of its magnesia dead burned, calcined and fused FOB China price assessments from weekly publication to monthly.

The move to monthly publication will allow the assessments to better reflect the liquidity changes in the market.

The proposed change applies to the following price assessments:

MB-MAG-0001 Magnesia, dead burned, 94-95% MgO, lump, fob China, $/tonne
Quality: Dead-burned 94-95% MgO lump, bulk
Quantity: Minimum 1,000 tonnes
Location: fob China
Timing: Spot
Unit: $/tonne
Publication: Monthly. Second Tuesday of each month, 4pm London time

MB-MAG-0004 Magnesia, calcined, 90-92% MgO, fob China, $/tonne 
Quality: Calcined 90-92% MgO
Quantity: minimum 1,000 tonnes

These prices are a part of the Fastmarkets industrial minerals package.

Fastmarkets’ other Chinese magnesia prices will not be changed as part of this proposal.

The consultation period for this proposed amendment starts on Wednesday August 28 and will end on September 24. The amendment will then take place, subject to market feedback, on October 8.
