Proposal to reduce frequency of FOB China graphite electrodes high power and ultra high power assessments: pricing notice

Fastmarkets proposes to decrease the frequency of its MB-GRA-0043 graphite electrodes, high power, fob China assessment and MB-GRA-0044 graphite electrodes, ultra high power, fob China assessment.

Fastmarkets proposes to assess and publish its graphite electrodes, high power, fob China and graphite electrodes, ultra high power assessments on a monthly basis, rather than on the previous fortnightly basis.

The proposal follows Fastmarkets’ observations that these two commodities see inactive spot liquidity and low volatility in prices.

The proposed new specifications for the prices are as follows, with the amendments in italics:

MB-GRA-0043 graphite electrodes, high power, fob China, $ per tonne
Quality: 350-450mm diameter
Quantity: Min 20 tonnes
Location: FOB China
Timing: Spot
Publication: Monthly, first Wednesday of the month, 4pm London

MB-GRA-0044 graphite electrodes, ultra high power, fob China, $ per tonne
Quality: 450-650mm diameter
Quantity: Min 20 tonnes
Location: FOB China
Timing: Spot
Publication: Monthly, first Wednesday of the month, 4pm London

These prices are a part of the Fastmarkets industrial minerals package.

The consultation for this proposed amendment starts from Wednesday November 6 and will end on Friday December 6. The change in frequency will then take place, subject to market feedback, from Wednesday December 11.
