Kulwant Bhatia

Kulwant is the Chief Technology Officer for Fastmarkets and responsible for both customer-facing technology and internal pricing platforms. At Fastmarkets he has built out a nearshore Engineering team in Bulgaria, broadened operational capabilities through the Site Reliability function, and led complex carve out activities to separate Fastmarkets into an independent entity as part of the move to PE ownership, as well as provided diligence for M&A transactions. Kulwant joined Fastmarkets in October 2021, having previously worked at Credit Suisse for eleven years in a variety of leadership positions – including Global Head of Commodities Technology where he built out electronic trading capability for the bank's commodities business. Also, as the Head of Equity Tactical Trading at Bank of America, Kulwant built out an algorithmic trading business for derivatives from scratch, funding the technology and quantitative team with P&L achieved from the system developed, working closely with regulators, vendors, and exchanges. Kulwant has a commitment to mentoring and talent development and has been involved in external engagements including Board Advisor to the European Financial Information Summit, expert judge and speaker for US Embassy technology initiatives around sustainability, supported UK apprenticeships and organized UK FinTech events with startups and VCs. Kulwant graduated in Mathematics and Computer Science from Imperial College London and has a Masters in Finance from the London Business School. He enjoys a good challenge and innovation, talent development and creative thinking are his passions. Outside of work, he also pursues Martial Arts in particular Wing Chun Kung Fu. He can also be heard occasionally on BBC Radio for his previous work in radio drama.
