Joaquim Nunes de Almeida is director in charge of “Mobility and energy intensive industries” at the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) since March 2021. This includes raw materials, renewable energy industries and alliances such as hydrogen and solar energy as well as green and circular economy and sustainable product design. Before that, he was director in charge of single market policy (since 2016). Joaquim started his career at the European Commission in 1995 and has extensive experience in policies related to the internal market and home affairs (police cooperation, terrorism, law enforcement, asylum and immigration). He studied law and worked as a lawyer at the Bar of Lisbon, Portugal, from 1989 to 1994, dealing mainly with anti-trust law as well as commercial and civil law.

Julia joined T&E in June 2015 and now leads the organisation's vehicles, electrification and supply chains work across Europe. This includes policies regulating vehicle emissions, such as the EU car CO2 standards, sustainable batteries and critical raw materials. Julia also represents T&E on the board of the Global Battery Alliance, and is an unpaid advisor to the board of Vulcan Energy Resources. Julia previously worked as senior EU environment expert for the Mayor of London and, as an advisor to an MEP, followed legislation on renewables, energy efficiency and sustainable transport. Hailing from Latvia, Julia studied European politics and French at Goldsmiths, University of London, and holds an MSc in energy from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, specialising in batteries and fuel cells. She speaks English, French, Latvian and Russian, and loves swimming, reading and travelling in her spare time – as well as good red wine (with emphasis on oenology, not drinking, of course).

Natesh has 30 years of experience working in both the chemical and consumer goods industries. Natesh earned a Master of Business Administration from Rice University, and both a chemical engineer degree and a minor in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Natesh has served on the board for the Children’s Hands on Museum and was also Vice-Chair for Ashley Academy, an independent school, both located in Northeast Tennessee.
