We are pleased to announce that Brad Southern, Chair & CEO of LP Building Solutions, has been named the 2024 Fastmarkets Forest Products North American CEO of the Year.
The award will be formally presented at the annual Fastmarkets Forest Products North America Conference 2024, taking place on October 28-30 at the Westin Chicago River North hotel in Chicago.
The award is nominated by a group of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the North American – and global – pulp, paper, and forest products industry.
The panel was particularly impressed by Southern’s focus and determination to reform LP.
Over several years, Southern and his team migrated LP from OSB (oriented strand board) – a product it created in the 1970s – to advanced siding products that offer preferable financial margins for the company.
This significantly reduced risks for the company, moving from over-reliance on volatile new home construction to more stable and predictable R&R (repair and remodel) applications.
Southern is one of a small, select group of leaders who have won the North American CEO of the Year award more than once in the last 25 years. He first won it in 2019.
