Brazilian soybean oil, corn and soybean meal exports have a strong start in December

We have seen an increase in daily volumes compared to last year, although wheat exports are slightly down, according to sources

Brazil´s soybean oil, corn and soybean meal exports started December at a strong pace, customs data for shipments the first week of the month showed.

Soybean oil exports reached 1.2 million tonne in the first week of the current month, while last year’s December shipments totaled 1.9 million tonne.

The average shipment volume per working day was 198,828 tonne last week, up 125.9% from the 87,998 tonne average pace seen in December 2022.

Brazil´s Grain Exporters Association (Anec) expects the country to send 1.5 million tonne of soybean oil abroad this month.

Corn exports

December corn exports amounted to 2 million tonne in the first week of December, while in the same month last year, shipments totaled 6.2 million tonne.

The average volume shipped per working day was 333,632 tonne, 17.5% higher than the 283,850 tonne seen in December 2022.

Anec has pegged December corn exports at 7. 2 million tonne.

Soybean meal and oil exports

Brazil’s soybean meal exports reached 813,814 tonne in the first week of December, while in the same month last year, shipments amounted to 1.9 million tonne.

The average shipment rate per working day was 135,635 tonne, 151% above the 54,046 tonne seen a year ago.  

Anec projects soybean meal shipment to reach 1.3 million tonne in the last month of 2023.

Brazil’s vegetable oils and fats exports, composed mostly of soybean oil, amounted to 41,358 tonne in the first week of December, while 279,505 tonne were sent abroad in the same month of 2022.

The average export pace per working day was 6,893 tonne, 45.7% lower than the 12,704 tonne average pace from December last year.

Wheat exports

Wheat exports totaled 118,518 in the first week of December, versus 530,095 tonne sent abroad in the whole month last year.     

The average pace of exports per working day was 19,753 tonne, 18% below the 24,095 tonne average pace seen in December 2022.

Anec pegged the current month´s wheat exports at 689,256 tonne.
