Industry feedback suggests that regional production differences in softwood pallets are negligible, eliminating the need to differentiate between eastern and western stock. Further, grade-A and grade-B pallets are most commonly used to designate used pallets, and Fastmarkets will drop the grades and instead designate pallets as either “new” or “used,” with grades included where applicable.
Fastmarkets will also add 12 new pallet assessments, covering grade-A and grade-B used pallets in each of the six existing delivered markets of Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Seattle, and Los Angeles.
Changes to existing assessment names and the addition of new pallet assessments will go into effect beginning on April 30.
