Launch of China domestic green ferro-manganese prices

Fastmarkets launched assessments for MB-FEM-0008 green ferroalloy domestic, ferro-manganese max 7% C, 65% Mn min, differential to FeMn assessment, in-whs China and MB-FEM-0009 green ferroalloy domestic, ferro-manganese max 7% C, 65% Mn min, weekly inferred price, in-whs China on Friday November 1.

The prices reflect the rising need for green ferro-manganese prices in China, and increasing demand by smelters for green pricing mechanisms while China ramps up the decarbonization of the steel supply chain to meet global steel demand.

Fastmarkets’ green ferroalloy domestic, ferro-manganese differential, will be assessed every week against Fastmarkets’ established China ferro-manganese price assessment.

The inferred price will be calculated by adding the green ferro-manganese differential on top of the weekly China ferro-manganese price assessment to provide transparency.

The price specifications are as follows:

Quality: Scope 1-3 emissions of 0-3 tonnes of CO2, composite energy intensity: ≤660 kilogram coal equivalent per tonne, electricity consumption: ≤2400 kWh per tonne, manganese element usage rate: ≥95%, water recycling rate: ≥95%, allowable emission concentration: ≤30 milligram per cubic meter, slag treatment: 100%, 0 wastewater discharge
