From July 11, 2018, the China domestic grade 304 stainless steel cold-rolled coil (2mm) yuan per tonne in-warehouse price and the China domestic grade 430 2mm stainless steel cold-rolled coil yuan per tonne in-warehouse will be published on Wednesday, instead of Thursday.
This change will align the two price assessments with those for import prices in East Asia, which are currently published on Wednesday. This will allow changes in both the domestic and import markets to be reflected together on the same day each week.
From July 11, 2018, the Asia grade 304 stainless steel hot-rolled sheet $ per tonne cif East Asia port price will also be amended to a hot-rolled coil $ per tonne cif East Asia port price in order to better reflect trading fundamentals.
All historical data relating to the two assessments prior to the amendment will remain available in the pricing section of the Metal Bulletin website.
Those active in the stainless steel markets have until Wednesday July 4 to notify Metal Bulletin of any comments on the changes outlined above, including any requirements to facilitate a smooth transition.
Metal Bulletin will provide confirmation for the outlined changes, including an updated methodology document, by July 11, 2018.
Additional details on the feedback received as part of Metal Bulletin’s stainless steel price consultation will follow in the coming days.
