Fastmarkets will discontinue its US domestic mesh-quality wire rod price assessment, following a market consultation that began on October 11.
The price will be discontinued effective January 1, 2019.
Fastmarkets received and considered both positive and negative feedback regarding the discontinuation of this price, and extended its consultation period by two weeks in order to solicit additional feedback and fully review the relevant considerations.
Fastmarkets concluded that the industrial-quality wire rod price is more relevant and more widely used by US market participants, and that the industrial-quality market is more liquid. As a result, mesh-quality wire rod is less suitable for assessment.
